In shocker, Obama wins You’re-Not-Bush Prize

The Nobel Peace Prize, which apparently is now being awarded to whoever has done or may do the most to enslave the American people, has succeeded in uniting Islamic terrorists and Israelis:

“We congratulate him for this,” said Ahmed Yousef, deputy foreign minister of Hamas, the Islamist group that runs Gaza and remains isolated by the United States because of its refusal to recognize Israel. But “we believe he has been rewarded or judged based on good intentions towards peace but not on his achievement. It was too early to award him. He has not done that much yet.”

Danny Danon, a member of the Israeli Knesset from the ruling Likud Party who opposed U.S. efforts to freeze construction of Jewish settlements, also said Obama’s record is thin. “This is the first time the award is given for wishful thinking,” Danon said.

Robert Schultz confirms my now-confirmed view that the point of this is to give Obama’s prestige a boost so Americans will be more likely to accept his fast-and-furious attempts to strangle our liberties:

When told of Obama’s win Robert Schultz, 62, a retired civil servant and Vietnam veteran, asked: “For doing what?

“The guy hasn’t solved any conflict anywhere so how can he win the peace prize? But if we don’t reelect him the next go around we will all look like idiots because the world has anointed him,” said Schultz, who lives in a suburb of Dallas.

The Democratic National Committee says this:

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists—the Taliban and Hamas this morning—in criticizing the president for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse said.

Wow. So not only are you a racist if you oppose Obama’s attempts to destroy the economy and our liberty, you’re making common cause with terrorists. Let’s hope the terrorists never state that red, green and blue are the primary colors, because then we’d have to outlaw crayons and rainbows.

According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee:

[Obama’s] diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.

What “value” has “the majority of the world’s population” ever agreed upon except the fact that the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain? And if “the world” agreed on the virtue of jumping lemming-like off cliffs, would that make it right? But perhaps a sentiment to which the world’s billions would give the nod once they were properly convened and canvassed.

  1. My guess is he got the prize for being black. And for sounding socialist. The Nobel committee wants to congratulate Americans for voting for someone who seems so different from Geo. W. Bush. The fact that Obama has not followed through on his promise to pull out of the iraq war, and appears committed to escalating Afghanistan’s unwinnable war, added more reason for the committee to grant the thing to Obama: The award has repeatedly gone to thugs and mass murderers. The committee just likes those thugs and murderers who look good on television.

If there had been a Nobel in ancient times, Demonsthenes, Caesar and Josephus would all have won.

  2. I disagree, locofoco, that one is a “thug and mass murderer” for waging war against regimes headed up by mass-murdering thugs. At a bare minimum after 9/11, the U.S. was fully justified, morally, in waging war against the Taliban-al Qaeda regime in Afghanistan. If, according to your argument, fighting a war against murderous thug regimes is all that is required to render one a murderous thug oneself, then even a directly oppressed people who fight to throw off the shackles of the tyrant are per se “murderous thugs.”

  3. See? He has brought Israel and Hamas to an agreement. The man is a genius.

    • If the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize is what engendered the agreement between Hamas and Israel, shouldn’t the prize committee give itself the Peace Prize? In fact, I think that would be entirely in order, given the standards that have been established for awarding it.
