Wells says Belloc is terrified by specter of doubt

Filed under: Literature,Society and culture — davidmbrowndotcom @ 12:36 pm

I just learned that one of the books by H.G. Wells, one that is available as a free etext at Gutenberg.net.au, is a polemic replying to a polemic by Hilaire Belloc attacking Wells’s Outline of History. Wells says that Belloc says: “One Catholic disturbed in his faith is more important than twenty thousand or a hundred thousand or a million of the average reading public of England and America.” I can’t offhand find Belloc’s Companion to Mr. Wells’s Outline of History online.
