Obamacare can and should be repealed

In a comment on my post about how “deluded” (not) opponents of the Democrats’ socialist health care plan are, reader Tom wonders whether the U.S. is dead in the water now vis-a-vis last-best-hope-of-mankind type thing. Should we be looking for a place to emigrate to?

Let’s see if we can reverse some of this damage first. Polling by Rasmussen Reports currently shows that 55% of likely voters support repeal of Obamacare. The country is divided over this monstrosity, but a majority of likely voters oppose it. And opposition to it is generally more intense than the support for it. If the GOP makes repeal of Obamacare a central theme and promise in 2010 and 2012, they can win a congressional majority and the legislation can be repealed, at least after Obama is kicked out in 2012. It’s a big “if,” but it can be done. It would be easy enough to cobble together in ads and infomercials plenty of reminders of the duplicity and lies used to ram this socialist legislation through, and details of how costly the legislation will be to our liberties and wallets. The question is not whether repeal is politically possible, but whether the GOP and other opponents of Obamacare will present a united front and stick to their guns. The accelerating trend toward total fascist control over all our lives must be reversed.
